THE
FIRM
Since 1990 the
Dodd-Hansen Consulting Group has specialized in the creation and
production of state-of-the-art construction specifications. The firm
has received many national awards for its written architecture,
including top awards in 2 of the 3 categories in the 2002 CSI National
Specification Competition. Project specifications have been
provided for more than 1,000 construction projects, of which more than
350 were for public schools, ranging from complete new school campuses
down to simple additions of relocatable classrooms. The firm has
successfully completed multiple projects for more than 50 School
Districts in California. Over 50 of the firm's projects have been for
colleges and universities, and another 30 have been for hospitals. The
majority of school and hospital projects have required expertise in the
requirements of the California Public Contract Code and the California
Building Code and the firm’s master specifications sections are written
to satisfy those requirements.
The Dodd-Hansen
Consulting Group is a collaboration designed to take advantage of the
full range of expertise of its principals, as well as a diverse group
of associated specialists.

master specifications systems for numerous design firms and
institutions based on the systems created by his firm.
- In 1978 was one of the first
individuals to take the examination for, and be certified by CSI, as a
Construction Specifier (CCS).
- As West Region CSI Education
Chair, created the 1998 Construction Sciences Forum for the College of
Architecture and Environmental Design at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo,
which received the 1999 CSI Education Commendation and is now an annual
event for practitioners, educators and students in the West Region.
- Is Immediate Past President of
Specifications Consultants in Independent Practice (SCIP)
Sheryl

- Specializes in Bidding and
Contracting Requirements and Division 1 - General Requirements
procedures and focuses primarily upon Educational and Governmental
projects falling under the requirements of the California Public
Contract Code.
- Served two years as chairman of
the Construction Specifications Institute’s Certification committee,
writing and conducting the examinations for Construction Documents
Technologists, Construction Specifiers, Contract Administrators and
Product Representatives throughout the United States.
- Currently serving CSI on the
MasterFormat Implementation Task Team and as Secretary of the West
Region.
- In 2002, joined the ranks of
only 17 women in CSI to be elevated to Fellowship in the Institute.
- Past national president of
Specifications Consultants in Independent Practice (SCIP) and past
president of the Sacramento Chapter of CSI.
